• The DMP started operations in 1995.
• The DMP currently has over 30 medical aid (insurer) funder partners.
• Over 18 000 people with diabetes are members of the DMP.
• Over 260 doctors form the CDE “Centres of Excellence” provider network.
• Every contracted doctor is accredited in diabetes care principles.
• Most of the Endocrinologists and Specialist Diabetologists in South Africa (27) are part of the CDE “Centres of Excellence” provider network.
• The DMP is the only truly doctor-driven diabetes programme, and is considered the premier diabetes programme in South Africa.
• The DMP publishes its own magazine for people with diabetes – Diabetes Lifestyle. It is provided free of charge.
• Information and health outcomes relating to the DMP programme was recently published in the prestigious international “Diabetic Medicine” medical journal.
