About the CDE Forum

Dear Colleagues

The Annual CDE Postgraduate Forum in July / August of each year has become the premier meeting place in South Africa for all healthcare professionals with a specific interest in the management of diabetes. It allows for a frank exchange of ideas, and networking with colleagues, both during the academic sessions and the social events. As always, the Forums distinctive “Team Approach” will be central, with the assembly under one roof of Specialist Physicians, Family Practitioners, Diabetes Nurse Educators, Dieticians, Podiatrists and other Health Care, Pharmaceutical Industry and Medical Funding Professionals interested in diabetes management.

The Forum traditionally provides a distillation of the most important issues in the rapidly changing field of diabetes care. We always try to think outside the box in the development of our Programmes to produce an event that is scientifically based whilst practical, creative and entertaining.

Attendance at the Forum is customarily by invitation only and is aimed primarily for members of Centres for Diabetes nationally. Annual attendance at a minimum of one major national meeting related to diabetes management is compulsory for continuing accreditation as a Centre for Diabetes. This Forum fulfils that requirement for those CDE practitioners who do not have the opportunity to attend other major diabetes meetings and ensures that all Centres are updated with new advances and insights into modern diabetes management. Other Practitioners, who have shown interest in diabetes management, by attending the 3-Day or 5-Day Advanced Courses in Diabetes Care for Health Professionals presented by the CDE, are also invited to attend.

Over the years, the Forum has developed a unique character of comradeship and togetherness. We trust that in joining us you will find the weekend stimulating, the topics useful and the company enjoyable.

Each Forum to date has broken the previous years record of number of delegates and the number, size and quality of stands in the concurrent Trade Exhibition.

The majority of delegates have felt that the Forum was a positive learning experience for them. Likewise, most of the Product Managers and stand personnel always comment on the “great vibe” and on the amount of new and continued business generated at each meeting.
